About the Role:
As a History Teacher at GSL Education, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality history lessons that engage and challenge students, helping them to develop a strong understanding of key historical events, themes and figures. You will be expected to design and implement a curriculum that stimulates curiosity and encourages independent thought.
Key Responsibilities of the History Teacher:
* Plan and deliver stimulating history lessons in line with the national curriculum, fostering students’ curiosity and critical thinking skills.
* Create and implement differentiated lesson plans to ensure all students are engaged and making progress, regardless of their ability level.
* Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help students reach their full potential.
* Foster an inclusive and positive classroom environment where all students are encouraged to engage, participate and explore historical topics with enthusiasm.
* Participate in extracurricular activities and school events that promote the study of history and its relevance in the modern world.
* Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff members to develop and refine the history curriculum and share best practices.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student achievement, providing regular reports to parents and school leadership.
History Teacher requirements:
* A relevant degree in History or a closely related field, alongside Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Proven experience in teaching History at the secondary level, with a solid understanding of the national curriculum and key stage assessments.
* A passion for history and a strong ability to engage students with diverse historical periods, events and perspectives.
* Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to create a disciplined and motivating learning environment.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to engage students, colleagues and parents effectively.
* A commitment to fostering critical thinking, research skills and historical enquiry in students.
* The ability to inspire students to appreciate the importance of history in understanding the present and shaping the future.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
