The Addington Hostel has been providing housing for men for 125+ years in Christchurch. This is a unique 88 bed hostel site, that is 24 hour staffed, focused upon the needs of men with Addiction, Mental health and Corrections histories, who are in need of short-term housing.
We also provide Community housing for another 45 whanau and individuals across the city.
The team is made up of about 55 staff who are either Social Workers, Caseworkers, Counsellors, Addiction trained staff, Nurses or Support workers.
About the Role:
This Employment Pathway Coordinator role is a new role to the team offering the opportunity to focus upon the return to employment journey for our tangata. Having the option to get employment is often a core component to wellbeing and sense of being part of the community and supporting yourself and others.
The employment journey can often be interrupted by life events, whether they have been health related or due to being involved in Corrections services. Having employment creates routine and overall wellbeing and is a strong indicator of future stability and cohesion.
We are looking for a new staff member who can walk with our tangata to develop the skills and experiences to move back to be able to work for the first time or after a period of absence. This may include both 1:1 and group work in work skills, base training required for a safe workplace, developing good habits for work, motivation, interview skills, Health and Safety training and use of PPE.
What will your responsibilities be:
* To undertake return to employment group work.
* 1:1 coaching to the men as required.
* Support other Caseworkers when dealing with employment issues.
* Connect the men into other counselling support.
* Connect the men to work brokers when they are ready.
* Support the men through external training options.
Our ideal candidate will:
* Have at least 3 years of prior employment coaching experience in a related area.
* Have a Diploma qualification in employment related training or HR or similar.
* Able to undertake small group training and 1:1 mentoring.
* Have a qualification or significant experience working within a Mental health, Addictions or Corrections area of work in the past (ideal).

This role is permanent full time and hours worked will be 40 per week.
The starting salary for this role will fall between $64254 and $72917.
The starting hourly rate for this role will fall between $30.89 and $35.05.
