Job Overview
As the New Starter Experience Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that every new colleague—particularly those in the Capital Delivery space—feels welcomed, valued, and fully equipped to thrive at Southern Water. You’ll be instrumental in delivering a seamless onboarding experience, promoting our values, and supporting our mission of delivering exceptional service and protecting the environment.

Responsibilities Will Include
1. Design & Deliver a New Onboarding Strategy: Redesign the entire onboarding experience, from day one to the first 90 days—overhaul induction days, build new approaches, and set a fresh direction for success.
2. Lead Onboarding Excellence: Manage the entire end-to-end process to ensure that new starters experience an engaging, smooth, and exciting journey.
3. Create Engaging Programmes: Develop innovative orientation sessions, welcome packs, training, and networking opportunities that foster a sense of belonging and engagement.
4. Collaborate Across Teams: Work hand-in-hand with HR, IT, Learning & Development, and hiring managers to ensure new hires have everything they need before their first day.
5. Measure & Improve: Collect and act on feedback to continuously improve the onboarding process and deliver a top-notch experience for new starters.
6. Champion Our Culture & Values: Infuse Southern Water’s culture and values into every step of the onboarding journey, focusing on sustainability, diversity & inclusion, and employee wellbeing.
7. Provide Ongoing Support: Be the go-to person for new hires, offering guidance, answering questions, and helping them settle into their new role.
About You
You will bring proven experience in HR, onboarding, or employee engagement, with a deep understanding of best practices in creating exceptional new starter experiences. With your excellent organisational and project management skills, you will thrive in a fast-paced environment, successfully juggling multiple priorities and delivering results. Your strong communication and relationship-building abilities will allow you to work seamlessly with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring a smooth and engaging onboarding journey. You will have a genuine passion for people, driven by the desire to deliver an outstanding experience that makes a real difference to our colleagues’ success. Your creativity and solution-oriented mindset will be key in solving problems, improving processes, and keeping the experience fresh, engaging, and impactful!
Package
This role will be full time Monday to Friday 37 hours a week.
Southern Water operate a hybrid approach to working between our Durrington office and home.
