SOX SME (Tech Controls / IAM)
Location: UK Remote with ad-hoc travel
Rate: Competative market rate, Outside IR35
Length: 6 months
An incredible opportunity for a SOX Subject Matter Expert (SME) with expertise in technology controls and Identity and Access Management (IAM) to join a leading organisation and enhance their financial reporting compliance. This project focuses on strengthening governance, improving reporting accuracy, and ensuring audit readiness as part of their large-scale annual SOX audit. With 80+ systems currently in scope, there is an opportunity to refine compliance processes and optimise control frameworks.
Responsibilities:
* Review and assess in-scope systems, identifying opportunities for de-scoping.
* Evaluate existing IAM and data access controls for SOX compliance.
* Advise on best practices for designing and implementing IAM and data access controls.
* Identify gaps or inefficiencies in current control processes and recommend improvements.
* Partner with internal stakeholders and external auditors to ensure alignment on control expectations and testing approaches.
* Represent the organisation's interests in audit discussions, constructively challenging audit findings where necessary.
* Provide guidance on process improvements and control rationalisation to enhance SOX compliance efficiency.
* Assist in developing remediation plans for control deficiencies and support the implementation of corrective actions.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a SOX SME, focusing on technology controls and IAM.
* Strong understanding of SOX compliance, financial reporting risks, and audit methodologies.
* Experience working with external auditors and internal stakeholders to align on control frameworks.
* Expertise in designing and assessing IAM and data access controls within a SOX environment.
* Ability to analyse complex compliance challenges and recommend practical solutions.
