Manage the team of staff and volunteers. Oversee appropriate referrals, timely assessments and allocation to an appropriate Counsellor. Oversee and contribute to the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme for counsellors Lead and develop bereavement education opportunities with our team and partners Provide clinical supervision to part of the broader team of volunteer counsellors. Manage a clinical case load under supervision for adults and children. Ensure accurate records are maintained and Information Governance standards and adherence to the BACP Ethical Framework are maintained throughout the department. Participate in clinical audit and governance activities. Attend Multi Disciplinary Team meetings, counselling supervision, team meetings and other committee and sub-committee meetings. Manage and oversee the recruitment and maintenance of the clinical placement programme for trainee counsellors including liaising with relevant educational partners. Recruit and monitor the practice of bereavement counselling volunteers. Represent the Hospice at external professional and fundraising events in a knowledgeable and professional manner. Ensure commitment to personal and staff/volunteer continuing professional development. Work within the framework of Teesside Hospice Care Foundations procedures and policies. Be responsible for co-ordinating Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for staff/volunteers. Lead on child safeguarding within the Hospice setting ensuring that the policy and procedures are up to date and meet all legislative requirements. Adhere to safeguarding policy and procedures and support the clinical teams with safeguarding referrals in accordance with local policy and procedures. Ensure child protection education, training and concerns are a priority within the Bereavement Counselling service and THCF; liaising with external agencies by sharing appropriate intelligence. Ensure the resources allocated to the Bereavement Counselling team are used efficiently and effectively. Practice within any appropriate codes of conduct and ensure all volunteers are aware of their responsibility to do so. Practice through example to demonstrate professional standards in accordance with the organisational values. Develop new bereavement support initiatives to increase reach and improve outcomes to beneficiaries. Deliver and improve training to employers, which enables managers to support their staff when experiencing bereavement or life limiting illness diagnosis.
