Relief Part Time Primary Care Centre Assistant and Driver - Shropshire
2 x 15hrs per week working a combination of day, evening and night shifts, but predominantly nights with additional hours often available (primarily based at Princess Royal Hospital, Telford with some shifts at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital).
Although welcome, no prior experience is essential as full training will be provided. You will need to have outstanding interpersonal skills to build relationships with colleagues and patients and, in addition to Telford & Shrewsbury must be prepared to travel to our other bases at Whitchurch, Ludlow and Bridgnorth.

Shropdoc is a not-for-profit company established in 1996. We provide 24/7 urgent primary care services for patients across Powys, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. This includes out of hours GP services, care coordination, single point of access in Shropshire, and an oncology advice line. The Role – Primary Care Centre Assistant and Driver
You’ll be based primarily at Telford Hospital, where you’ll greet and welcome patients. However, you’ll also drive GPs to home visits in the surrounding areas, potentially anywhere in Shropshire.
Your duties will include:
- Transporting the Duty GP / Clinicians to all home visits
- Checking diagnostic equipment and clinical bags used by GPs is present and in working order
- Ensuring surgeries are set up and fully equipped in readiness for patients
- Greeting patients attending the Primary Care Centre, acting as a first point of contact
- Supporting with administrative tasks, such as handling telephone calls and arranging conference calls, faxing prescriptions and admission letters
- Ensuring the Centre and vehicles are kept clean and tidy
The Package
- Working a minimum of 15 hours per week on a relief basis with additional hours often available. Shifts will be across days, evenings and nights.
- Flexibility is available with hours worked, and shift patterns are provided with a minimum of 6 weeks in advance, although some flexibility will also be required to meet the demands of the role
- Base pay rate of £11.56, although as you will work primarily out of hours shifts you will benefit from the 30% uplift (equating to £15.03) when working between 8pm and 6am on weekdays and for Saturday shifts, as well as a 60% uplift (equating to £18.50) on Sundays and Bank Holidays
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays pro rata, rising to 27 days pro rata after 5 years’ service, and 29 days pro rata after 10 years

Our Requirements – Primary Care Centre Assistant and Driver
- Have possessed a full UK driving licence for a minimum of 3 years
- Be over 25 years of age for vehicle insurance purposes
- Familiar with the use of Sat navigation, with good knowledge of local geography
- Confident using Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Flexible, reliable, self-motivated, and resourceful
