Overview:
We are seeking an Experienced Container Traffic Planner to join our logistics team. This role requires a strong understanding of container transport, port systems, and route optimisation. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in container transport and a comprehensive knowledge of industry regulations, including drivers' legal hours and the Working Time Directive. Key Responsibilities:
Plan and manage the traffic for container vehicles, ensuring optimal utilisation of the fleet.
Route container vehicles efficiently to meet both operational and customer requirements.
Ensure compliance with driver legal hours and working time regulations.
Oversee the effective use of port systems, including VBS (Vehicle Booking System).
Coordinate with drivers and hauliers to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
Maintain and monitor transport operating systems, including familiarity with software like TOPS and Truckcom.
Plan container movements in a way that minimises costs and ensures timely deliveries.
Ensure effective communication with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK geography to make efficient routing decisions.
Resolve operational issues related to container movements and traffic management.
Adhere to all safety and regulatory standards when managing vehicle movements.Key Skills and Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in container transport planning or a similar logistics role.
Full knowledge and practical experience with port systems, including VBS (Vehicle Booking System).
Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to manage relationships effectively.
Solid understanding of UK geography to plan optimal routes.
In-depth knowledge of drivers' legal hours and the Working Time Directive.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Strong timekeeping and organisational skills.
Proficiency with transport operating systems such as TOPS or Truckcom is highly advantageous.
Ability to confidently manage and direct the movement of container vehicles within operational constraints.
Proactive attitude to problem-solving and efficient fleet management.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
