Job Title: Waking Night Carer
Location: Oxfordshire (client’s private family residence)
Job Type: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Salary: £16.60 - £20.20 per hour (depending on experience)
Schedule:
Waking Night Shifts (8pm - 8am)
Flexible shift lengths (8hrs - 12hrs)
Available for full-time, part-time, or permanent employment.
Expected Start Date: ASAP
About Us:
We are a private family residence seeking a compassionate and experienced Waking Night Carer to support a young adult with cerebral palsy who lives at home with their family. The individual is non-verbal but communicates using symbols and an eye gaze system. The role involves providing high-level care and supporting the family team.
Responsibilities:
As a Waking Night Carer, your main duties will include:
Interacting with the young adult and supporting their evening and bedtime routine.
Constant observations throughout the night, responding to heart rate and saturation alarms.
Regular repositioning and turning during the night to ensure comfort and prevent pressure sores.
Personal care, including incontinence care.
Administering medication via PEG, suctioning/cough assist, nebuliser, and oxygen (PRN).
Laundry and light household duties, including disinfecting and wiping down equipment and surfaces.
Manual handling using hoisting equipment, where necessary.
Carer Requirements:
We are looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals who are committed to providing high-quality care. The following qualifications and attributes are required for this role:
Good Communication Skills: Experience working with non-verbal individuals, using symbols and/or eye gaze communication systems is preferred, but not essential.
Experience: At least 1 year of experience in complex care (e.g., PEG feeding, suctioning, hoisting, and incontinence care).
Written Skills: Ability to maintain accurate and detailed care notes.
Flexibility: Must be willing and able to work weekends, school holidays, and bank holidays as required.
Driving: A full, valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is essential (client’s home is not on a public transport route).
Health & Attendance: Must be in good health and have a good attendance record.
Right to Work: Must have the right to work in the UK.
Non-Smoking: Due to health considerations, non-smokers are preferred.
English Proficiency: Written and spoken English to an intermediate level is required.

Experience:
A minimum of 1 years’ experience in complex care, including:
PEG feeding
Suctioning/cough assist
Incontinence care
Hoisting/manual handling
Epilepsy training
Experience working with non-verbal individuals or in special needs environments is beneficial but not essential.
Location:
Oxford OX33 1DF (reliable commuting or relocation required). Must be able to drive as the client lives in a rural area with no public transport access.
