The Extrusion Technician will be responsible for ensuring equipment uptime and reliability by quick in-depth troubleshooting of equipment failures in addition to performing routine maintenance. Our Extrusion Technician constantly strives to adjust machinery to improve and optimize line efficiency. The Extrusion Technician works directly with the technical team to maintain smooth operation of the line and production of material R&D runs as well as the production schedule.

Responsibilities:
* Start up and operate the extrusion equipment according to approved parameters for the item(s) to be manufactured.
* Process bio-derived/engineering polymeric materials.
* Maintain production equipment elements like start-up, operation, changeover, shutdown, and preventative maintenance. Modify, lubricate, adjust, and improve equipment efficiency. Equipment may include but is not limited to, extrusion line equipment, tools, and/or dies.
* Identify in-process defects and troubleshoot related equipment to ensure quality of materials produced.
* Report to supervisor with mechanical or operational errors.
* Suggest adjustments to tooling as required to produce product that meets customer specifications.
* Adjust processing parameters as allowed within the approved range(s) to maintain the product within the approved specification.
* Ensure the quality of the products (QC) during production.
* Maintain consistent and documented compliance with all relevant Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) procedures.
* Keep the work area clean and organized.
* Perform manual tasks such as loading and supplying production line items and reworking and packaging products.
The position might require flexibility on working hours because FlexSea is a start-up. Highly motivated candidates who can show independent working and adaptation to schedule changes will be favored.
Qualifications:
Technical:
* Knowledge of extrusion techniques, experience with bioplastics/engineering materials preferred.
* Autonomy in operating, setting, running, and cleaning extrusion lines, as well as modular assembly and disassembly of line ancillaries.
* Ability and knowledge to adjust machine parameters as necessary to maintain production.
* Excellent understanding of basic mechanical and electrical machine operation is a must.
* Compelling evidence of complex technical problem-solving and troubleshooting processing issues.
* Understanding of polymer chemistry is preferred.
* A good level of mathematical proficiency is a must.

* Able to work under own initiative, manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Results-oriented self-starter capable of setting goals, planning, and executing complex research projects with effective oversight of future technician employees.

* Fluency, both spoken and written, in English language is required.
* Willing to do occasional extra shifts if required for ensuring timely production and delivery of material to customers.
* Experience working in an industrial environment.
* Right to work in the UK is a must.
* UK driving license (must).
