Introduction to the Division The division provides VAT, Corporate Tax, Transfer Pricing, Personal Tax, Global Mobility and Employment Tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of clients and prides itself on the quality of service, high degree of professionalism and personal approach that is offered to each and every client. The division has a growing number of Corporate Clients, with the team regularly involved in a number of transactional pieces of advisory work, across a variety of sectors and covering a variety of taxation issues. Click here to learn more about our Tax team Responsibilities Purpose and aim of the role The role requires an experienced, self- reliant, diligent, commercially focused individual, with a strong academic and professional background to join the growing Corporate Tax Team as a Corporate Tax Senior Manager or Corporate Tax Director with a Tax Audit responsibility alongside a wider role. The successful candidate will be a member of the Team, responsible for assisting the Partners in servicing clients, delivering CT services, managing people and functions within the team. The role will involve an oversight of some Corporate Tax compliance work for the wider team, including support to the audit teams as required, a variety of advisory services and business development. The successful candidate will have a strong compliance background enabling them to review, support, manage risk and identify opportunities in relation to compliance work. They will also ideally have experience in the delivery of some advisory projects, such as acquisitions, disposals, structuring, cross- border expansion, capital allowances and R&D claims. Establishing and successfully developing client relationships will be a core part of the role. In addition to this an understanding of key client management and risk processes is required. Support for other tax elements of the client portfolio will be provided by other teams within the tax division (Transfer Pricing, VAT, etc.) and overseas member firms of the PKF Network who you will be required to liaise with from time to time. Upon completion of probation, the successful candidate will be the primary relationship contact for a number of clients, and they will be expected to grow and develop the opportunities from these relationships, whilst also developing new ones, supporting and contributing to the growth of the team. Responsibilities The CT team at PKF Littlejohn LLP deals with a broad range of consultancy work emanating from a wide variety of clients. The list below includes some of the responsibilities, which are to be carried out. Tax Audit To ensure the smooth running of the tax audit service, tasks to include (in conjunction with Partners and Directors where appropriate based on seniority of hire) Technical elements Primary point of contact for coordinating tax related support to audit teams on all audit requests particularly large and complex audits Responsible for delivering audits of tax, liaising with client and client’s tax advisors and the core audit team, maintaining communications with internal specialists as required Consideration of a broad range of audit issues, including international tax risks, implications of regulatory changes, finance structures, the impact of changing tax rules, the impact of major corporate transactions and appropriately accounting for tax uncertainties Non-technical elements Collaborate with directors and partners across the firm to deliver an exceptional service. This is to include planning, early engagement with the audit team and budgeting. Manage, coach and delegate effectively to the team Supporting the firm’s technical and compliance department as required Oversight of booking in jobs, monitoring timelines and progress Delivery of audit of taxes within budget, input into recovery of overruns and out of scope work Coordinating season end debriefs, review and rectification of inefficiencies, any necessary communications and planning with the Coordinator of Use of Experts in Audit Business Development Providing tax support on audit proposals and RFPs Follow up on lost audit prospects and non-audit service opportunities Tax Reporting Acting as tax accounting specialist to our non-audit clients, assisting with complex provisioning engagements and the tax accounting aspects of GAAP conversions, carve out accounting and acquisition accounting Key contact for tax accounting queries for the wider tax and audit team Coaching and training more junior members of the team, Review provisions (including tax accounting) and final tax computations prepared by other members of the team First point of contact for the technical and compliance team on tax matters and tax reporting queries First point of contact for tax accounting and disclosure queries, advice related to consolidated international tax provisions and impacts of changes to accounting policy Helping to oversee general departmental matters To ensure the smooth running of the department, tasks to include (in conjunction with Partners and Directors where appropriate based on seniority of hire) Scheduling of resources to assist with the delivery of work Oversight of deadlines in a timely manner in respect of work allocation Solid experience in onboarding clients Manage WIP and billing for own clients, ensuring commercial recoveries Management and development of more junior members of the team to deliver work and provision of feedback Responsibility for some administrative requirements and projects required to ensure the smooth operation of the corporation tax team Build and maintain relationships with clients and provide high levels of client service Effective liaison with specialists in other areas of taxation, other departments within the firm and legal teams to provide coherent and joined up solutions Business development activities including client presentations, writing articles, RFP’s and new business opportunities Active and constructive contribution to team and internal meetings Director only: Input into the corporate tax team strategy, target setting, budgeting and monitoring ongoing performance Special work/ad hoc assignments To ensure the smooth running of the department, tasks to include (in conjunction with Partners and Directors where appropriate based on seniority of hire) Tender proposals Support in respect of M&A transactions, including restructuring, due diligence and expansion overseas Delivery of advisory work on a wide range of corporate and business tax issues. Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS Solid and consistent experience at Manager/Senior Manager level and/or entry level director at a comparable firm Ability to explain complex issues in a way non-CT experts will understand Up-to-date technical skills and experience, across a broad range of SME and large corporate tax issues. Ability to manage and deliver client projects profitably Ability to lead a wide range of tax advisory matters and report writing (including due diligence) Desirable but not essential Relevant professional qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CTA)
