Bookmark Education are working in partnership with a large Secondary Academy in the Gorton area of Manchester. The school has an increasing need for Cover Supervisors to work with them on an ongoing basis, full time ( Mon to Fri).
The role of Cover Supervisor is to cover classes in the absence of their regular teacher; you are not required to plan or teach but you are there as the responsible adult in the class, ensuring a positive learning environment is maintained and that pupils are on task and can access the learning.
To be successful in this role you must:
* Have experience of working with young people / young adults - this doesn't need to be in a school setting but transferable skills will be considered
*Be confident with managing challenging behaviour
*Be a strong role model to pupils; ensuring you follow the school values and ethos
*Have a good knowledge of IT; you will be accessing lesson material and registration through the school systems
*Be flexible - your timetable could change daily so you need to be able to adapt to change quickly
If you are an experienced cover supervisor, or perhaps a Graduate looking to start their PGCE next year and wanting to build on their classroom based experience then this could be the role for you. The Academy is a large academy for 11-16 year olds; it serves the Gorton community and the intake of pupils is diverse. The school is part of a wider Academy Trust and as such you are well supported and have access to great resources.
It has a school car park on site and is easy to access using the local bus links / train.
