Outline of the role We are currently looking for a Site Manager for a new project with a long standing Client. This role will see you overseeing the day to day management of works on site involving structural modifications, a mixture of RC and structural steel frames with cladding, shell and core fitout. To fullfil your roll, you will be supported by a Project Manager and various other members of our on site team and technical services teams. Project outline Farrans current project forms part of Bristol Airport’s overall multi-million-pound transformational development plan enabling 12 million passengers a year to use the Airport. It will provide a significantly enlarged public transport interchange hub, improved internal road system and an additional multi-storey car park providing customer enhancements such as waiting rooms and rest facilities. We are on site with this exciting project which will play a significant role in the step change of Bristol Airport as it elevates its offering to support new air links and increase inbound tourism. As a Site Manager you will be responsible but not limited to\: Health & Safety\: Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental management. Ensure all works are completed in line with the agreed safety systems of work and RAMS. Attend, report, or chair the weekly Health & Safety Meeting. Lead the site daily briefing each morning and disseminate information to the workforce under your control. Carry out all necessary inspections and submit these to the Site Office weekly. Continually monitor the works for any hazards or safety observations (positive or negative). Report any incidents or near-miss events immediately to your Line Manager or Site Management. Ensure all operatives under your control have the necessary training for the tasks ahead. Organize housekeeping of work areas to be completed daily. Daily liaison with relevant Client stakeholders and management of Permit to Work process. Quality\: Complete a review of all drawings and specifications associated with work activities, understanding manufacturers' installation instructions. Understand the Inspection Test Plans for your works and complete all required testing records in line with this. Ensure subcontract QA checks are completed before offering them to Farrans for inspection at agreed hold points. Raise and log any defects that become apparent and follow up on rectification plans and works. Ensure materials are kept in agreed locations as per the manufacturer’s instructions. Ensure all products installed are as per the specifications, installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions, and recorded in the QA process. Ensure the works are aligned with the programme and monitor/report against this within the weekly meeting to the project manager. Be commercially astute, ensuring that the sub-contract works are carried out in full. Project Management\: Develop and monitor strategies to deliver a quality build in accordance with project requirements. Develop, nurture, and manage supply chain relationships. Ensure the principles of the Considerate Constructor’s Scheme are adopted and manage community relations. Develop project strategy and ensure effective communication and implementation to deliver the project on time, and initiate corrective actions as required. Review performance against targets and identify/manage potential risks and opportunities. Ensure consistent implementation of standard procedures. Manage project handover and ensure defect/snags-free completion. Ensure a robust strategy for closing defects during the defects period and obtaining certification of Making Good Defects within target deadlines. Share best practices and drive continuous improvements. Required Skills and Experience Educated to degree standard in Engineering or equivalent Technical knowledge of construction and best practices Sound knowledge of latest building regulations, legislation and Health and Safety Proven experience within Aviation and airside construction, to include structural refurbishment and fit-out.
