IT Support Engineer
Gloucester – 5 days on site
£33,000 to £35,000 + Benefits including:
25 days holiday rising to 30, generous pension, cycle to work scheme, free lunch, parking and ongoing training and development.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you, an experienced IT Technician, or IT Support Engineer, to join a leading organisation based in central Gloucester.
You will be a key member of the IT department and help to ensure a first-class support function across the full IT Infrastructure, including networks, hardware, software and security.
Key duties for the IT Technician / IT Support Engineer include:
* Ensure equipment throughout the organisation is maintained in good working order and resolve any day-to-day problems as they arise
* Manage the performance and maintenance of the software platforms which run the whole organisation
* Monitor the use of IT throughout the organisation, ensuring access to the network and applications is suitably controlled and that cyber security provision is robust
* Manage the maintenance of other IT operated through the network, e.g. telephone system, CCTV
* Provide technical support for users. 1st line and 2nd line / Desktop Support
* Provide IT training when required
* Help deliver and manage projects through the research, analysis and planning phase to the implementation and review of the project
* Manage inventory of hardware and software
* Perform and check backups
In order to be successful in your application for the IT Technician position, you should have:
* Excellent proficiency in IT, including hardware configuration and diagnostics, network management, system implementation and control, system security and risk management
* Enthusiasm, drive and a proactive attitude to cope with the many demands placed on this busy department
* Outstanding customer care
* Excellent communication skills, able to work well within a small team and establish good working relationships with all users
* The ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload effectively
* Be capable of showing initiative, including the ability to think ahead and work flexibly
* A willingness to learn and develop as technology and best practice evolves
* •Good to excellent knowledge of Microsoft desktop and server operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Azure/Entra ID/Office 365 platform
