About the Role: The Headteacher is seeking to appoint an aspiring Assistant Head Teacher - SENCO to join this thriving specialist SEMH School. Reporting to the Headteacher, they will be responsible for assisting the Head in all aspects of the running of the establishment, deputise for the Head in their absence and have responsibility for all SENCO duties. Who are we looking for? While ideally, we are looking for a qualified SENCO, we will consider applicants who are experienced SEND leaders who have the ambition and desire. While experience within a specialist provision would be desirable, we will consider applications from those who are currently working in a mainstream or college setting. SEND is essential for this post as is the knowledge of current best practice in your chosen subject. Training and development will be provided for the successful candidate in line with the identified needs of the school, the skills of the individual and their prospective career progression. Key Accountabilities: To be responsible for assisting the Head in all aspects of the running of the establishment and Deputise for the Head in their absence. To participate as a member of the Senior Management Team of the establishment in the planning and implementation of policies, practice and working procedures. To lead on all, SEND responsibilities - SENCO To oversee the Education, Care and Clinical relationships, and take specific responsibility for one or more if required by the Head. With specific reference to educational practices, to advise, recommend, evaluate and determine procedures for policy making. To ensure, via regular evaluation, that the curriculum for each individual student is suitably broad and balanced and meets legal requirements. To have responsibility for identifying and determining together with the Head and Senior Management Team, the curriculum to match the ethos of the establishment. To promote the working day curriculum. Essential Criteria: Experience of teaching and leading within a specialist or mainstream setting. Qualified SENCO. Experience of teaching up to GCSE in subject area with a key focus on SEND support. A dedicated work ethic to ensure the needs of all students.
