The current post offers an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their clinical skills within the Joint Musculoskeletal And Pain Service (JMAPS). There may be opportunities to work as a First Contact Practitioner, depending upon the service needs.
As part of the outpatient team you will maintain a varied clinical caseload, working closely with other physiotherapists, technical instructors, and assistants. You will assist in supporting the daily running of the department and facilitating service development. You will be expected to take an active role in supporting development of less experienced colleagues and students.
Applications are invited from physiotherapists who are interested in working at Band 7 level. The post will be based at Berwick Infirmary but may involve working at other sites or GP practices.
• To deliver physiotherapy treatment for a complex caseload within a specialist MSK field.
• To provide highly specialised physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
• To provide clinical education, supervision and support to staff and students within the speciality area.
• To provide specialist advice to families, carers, other health and social care professionals and/or education services.
• To contribute to planning, development and auditing of the Physiotherapy service within the specialist area.
• To supervise qualified & unqualified staff within the specialist team.
• To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

• To use highly specialist knowledge in providing MSK and rehabilitation physiotherapy to an independent complex caseload.
• To formulate & implement with patients, carers, and other professionals individual programmes of care and provide them with specialist advice, teaching and instruction.
• Develop ability to interpret test results e.g. X-rays & blood tests to support clinical reasoning.
• To fast track complex patients to consultants or other professionals to ensure they receive appropriate and timely intervention.
• To advance the use of technological changes to deliver virtual education/consults/group consults.
• To lead in service training and supervision of work experience students, medical students and physiotherapy students from across the region.
