The post holder will be responsible for leading, managing and developing a team of manufacturing engineers responsible for the design, development, validation and ongoing support of the TAS production system to ensure the system produces product that consistently fulfills technical, quality and cost requirements while operating at the customer demand rate and ensuring health, safety and environmental requirements are adhered to.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice manufacturing engineering; planning vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business and functional performance.
* Design, prove, implement and maintain production systems to deliver product on time, to quality and cost requirements.
* Develop and maintain project plans and budget profiles to ensure delivery of milestones to agreed cost targets and timescales.
* Identify and justify capital equipment investment.
* Produce written reports and make presentations.
* Deliver and drive continuous training and development.
* Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
* Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required.
* Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility.
* Ensure the delivery of the People Strategy within area of accountability.
* Motivate and coach the team to operational success.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
* Stay current and up to date on any technology changes that may affect manufacturing design and development and advise others of any impact.

Requirements
Essential
* Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience in a similar environment, i.e. automotive, aerospace or heavy engineering.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a team.
* Understanding of industry best practice in manufacturing and/or assembly processes.
* Strong working knowledge of process design, process planning and lean manufacturing techniques.
* Awareness of the effective application of process design and planning tools such as PLM, MOM/MES and MRP.
* Experience of New Product Introduction, reworking design changes and upgrades through to production.
* Manufacturing/Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering degree.
* Understanding manufacturing processes and lean manufacturing.
Desirable
* Membership of an industry related professional body.
