Information about the role
This Operations and Intelligence role supports and delivers across four thematic teams: Training; Capabilities; Operations; and Performance & Development, to support, strengthen and assure the police response to CBRN Terrorism. This is a critical function and we are looking for a suitably experienced substantive Police Inspector to manage the National CBRN Centre’s Operations and Intelligence Team. It is a hybrid role with Non-Operational core responsibilities but with operational on-call requirements and deployments nationally where necessary. This role is offered as a 2 year national secondment or transferee opportunity.
Responsibilities
1. Contribute to the overall vision & mission of the NCBRNC.
2. Maintain a high level of subject knowledge in multi-agency CBRN response and wider CT Policing.
3. Ensure the provision of the 24/7 NCBRNC Operations Centre service, including complex, intricate and specialist ICT systems.
4. Oversight and management of intelligence products in accordance with Information Security requirements.
5. Deliver CBRN Protect & Prepare Counter Terrorism strategy across emergency services and partners.
6. Ensure effective interpretation and use of intelligence to inform NCBRNC outputs across UK Policing and partners.
7. Build and develop multi-agency relationships.
8. Support multi-agency partners in developing and sustaining CBRN capability.
9. Ownership, awareness and oversight of multiple work-streams impacting on CBRN capability & capacity, internal and external.
10. Ensure continued staff development in line with organisational priorities.
11. Represent NCBRNC in engagement with a wide variety of stakeholders at Operational, Tactical, Strategic, National and International levels.
12. Represent NCBRNC within the CT Protect & Prepare network.
13. Manage day-to-day operations of the members of the Operational Capability.
14. Deliver triage requests for operational support to CBRN related incidents across the UK.
15. Work with scientific, clinical and operational partners to understand requirements, limitations and parameters of deployments.
16. Collaborate with internal and external departments within CT Policing to ensure operating model is cohesive to responsibility of existing units.
17. Identify vulnerabilities and opportunities to ensure operational capability is fit for purpose.
18. Conduct detection capability user specification design reviews.
19. Support the Home Office procurement process.
20. Understand and develop the training requirements of the operational team.
21. Perform frequent National on-call duties as part of a Cadre of suitably trained officers and hold a valid UK driving licence, being currently trained and qualified to drive a police vehicle for emergency response purposes during periods of on-call.
22. Be prepared to occasionally deploy in support of UK CBRN Operations at short notice for potentially extended periods of time.
23. If not already qualified, the post-holder will be expected to attain qualification in CBRN Tactical Command and CBRN Tactical Advisor.
24. Provide support to other NCBRNC business areas as required.
25. Be prepared to carry out any tasks that the Home Office, NCBRNC or other key partners across the UK with flexibility and diligence.
26. Be prepared as directed to carry out any other tasks commensurate with role.
