The External Communication Specialist is responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring all external communication activities of the company in order to protect and enhance its reputation. This includes developing and implementing communication strategies, managing media relations, writing, and editing external communications materials such as press releases and website content, and planning and executing special events. The External Communication Specialist must be an excellent communicator, both written and oral, and have strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders. They must also be highly organised and have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Key responsibilities To lead, manage and deliver all external communications, including media relations, PR, awards, corporate publications, and events. To develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with key business areas and to provide an external communications advice and support service. To plan, manage and deliver a range of high-quality corporate communications projects, to agreed timescales and budgets. Manage proactive and reactive media enquiries, media releases, statements and briefings. Build relationships with journalists and media outlets. Working with and managing third party agencies. Monitoring media activity for own and competitor activities. Develop audience mapping and targeting strategies.
