This role requires an energetic individual who can engage with children and young people in active pursuits such as:
* Football: With a football pitch on-site, you’ll have the chance to join in and help young people stay active and have fun;
* Fishing: Supporting activities that take young people outdoors;
* Swansea City Football: Accompanying young people to Swansea City’s home games and providing support for flag bearing responsibilities while attending the matches.
A typical day in the life at Rhos Cottage includes:
* Supporting physical and emotional needs to ensure young people feel safe and cared for;
* Being a positive role model and encouraging healthy choices;
* Promoting independence by supporting a range of activities, such as social outings, work, and school-based tasks;
* Adapting support to individual needs, including assisting with decision-making and problem-solving;
* Maintaining accurate records of activities, progress, and any incidents;
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
* A can-do attitude and the ability to stay positive even in challenging situations;
* Resilience to work with young people who may have complex emotional and behavioural needs;
* Previous care experience is helpful, but not essential—what matters most is your passion for supporting young people;
* A valid driver’s license and flexibility around shift times;
* Compassion, empathy, and great communication skills, both written and verbal;
* Reliability—being punctual and trustworthy is essential in this role.
Please note: This role involves regulated activity with children and requires an enhanced DBS with a barred list check.
