We are seeking a motivated and skilled Supervisor/Team Leader to oversee our client's busy Potting Department and lead a dedicated team. As the Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the potting process. You’ll ensure high standards of plant care, manage resources, and contribute to achieving departmental and nursery-wide goals.
Pay rate- £12.50 to £13 per hour
Working Rota- Monday to Friday 07:30- 17:00
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of nursery staff in the Potting Department.
* Oversee daily potting operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met.
* Maintain and improve potting processes and procedures.
* Ensure plants are potted to the highest standards.
* Manage stock levels of pots, soil, and other materials, ensuring that supplies are ordered and replenished as needed.
* Monitor the team’s performance, provide feedback, and offer support and training as required.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and safe work practices.
* Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations across the nursery.
* Handle troubleshooting and problem-solving for operational challenges.
* Contribute to the training and development of staff, ensuring they understand horticultural best practices.
* Assist in the implementation of new systems and techniques for plant care and potting.
Ideal Candidate:
* Proven experience working in a horticultural or nursery environment, with hands-on experience in potting or plant care.
* Previous supervisory or team leader experience, ideally within a horticultural setting.
* Strong knowledge of plant varieties, care requirements, and potting techniques.
* Ability to lead and inspire a team while maintaining high standards of work.
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage workloads effectively.
* Good communication skills, with the ability to give clear instructions and provide constructive feedback.
* A passion for horticulture and a keen eye for detail.
* Health and safety awareness and the ability to ensure a safe working environment.
