The postholder will make a significant contribution to the leadership and management of the DForenPsy with particular emphasis on practice elements. The postholder is accountable to external Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs, including BPS, HCPC) for maintaining governance compliance and reports to the DForenPsy Programme Director. The post holder provides leadership and management to the DForenPsy deputising on behalf of and reporting to the DForenPsy Programme Director. The postholder provides strategic leadership (with the DForenPsy Programme Director). Main purpose of the job: Clinical Practice Director (click on the attachment for the full job description) Within the DClinPGR portfolio you are accountable for managing and monitoring all clinical practicum aspects of the DForenPsy training programme. Accountable for maintaining clinical placement provision to ensure that the DForenPsy Programme maintains external PSRB approvals (HCPC approval, BPS accreditation). The postholder will be responsible for the strategic development and maintenance of clinical placement capacity for the DForenPsy. Clinical Placement capacity is an essential requirement for the DForenPsy Programme. The postholder will have a key strategic role to ensure that International forensic psychology training placements are available to ensure the growth of International DForenPsy recruitment while maintaining essential collaborative provision with relevant partners. The postholder will line manage the Clinical Tutor Team to ensure clinical placement elements of the DForenPsy training are in place and are fit for purpose. This includes determining competences that trainees need to develop; assessing whether trainees are developing these at the required stages of training; and approving placements and training supervisors to ensure that trainees have sufficient learning opportunities and experience high quality supervision on practicum placements. The postholder will have delegated responsibility (from the DForenPsy Programme Director) for the management of the trainees. The postholder is accountable for managing and monitoring clinical placement/practice aspects of the DForenPsy and for ensuring the clinical practice components of the DForenPsy programme meet all requirements of PSRBs including BPS accreditation criteria, HCPC regulatory framework, the University TQA manual. The postholder will act as PGR / DClinPGR portfolio of Programmes Responsible Person for University Fitness to Practice matters. Provide clinical practice leadership to the DForenPsy programme and contribute to the Facultys research/impact work as appropriate. Main duties Teaching and Learning Support Teaching and Learning Support Responsibility for managing the clinical practice components of the DForenPsy, including oversight of day-to-day operational processes (e.g. placement monitoring quality), and programme accreditation processes. Report to the DForenPsy Programme Director on the strategy for compliance with key external performance indicators for successful delivery of the DForenPsy as required by Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Boards (PSRBs) such as HCPC and BPS. Report to the DForenPsy Programme Director on the strategy for ensuring DForenPsy readiness for International developments and as supporting development of overseas partnerships to ensure training collaboration. To support the DForenPsy Programme Director in the professional and other support for International students on the DForenPsy Programme and to lead on practice innovation to enhance international training experience on the DForenPsy. Responsible for ensuring placement quality, in liaison with relevant partners, and for developing and maintaining systems for ensuring the quality of clinical practice placements. Responsible for ongoing organisation and delivery of appropriate supervisor training. Support selection and admission elements of the DForenPsy from the Clinical Practice placement standpoint. For example, ensuring the implementation of appropriate selection criteria, including procedures for processing applications from people with disabilities. Report to the DForenPsy Programme Director on all clinical practice governance aspects of the DForenPsy at the Programme Strategic Management Group. Report to the DForenPsy Programme Director/DPGR on the strategy for ensuring enhancement and quality insurance of clinical practice elements of the DForenPsy across the Faculty and regularly review programme content and materials, updating when required. Teach a range of material on the programme. Develop, promote and implement innovative teaching practices (with support from our Teaching Quality Assurance and Enhancement department), including technology enhanced learning. Oversee the monitoring of student progress and provide advice and guidance to Academic Tutors and students as appropriate, including oversight of the needs of students with special requirements and processes pertaining to mitigating circumstances. Report to the DForenPsy Programme Director on the strategy for ensuring the systematic provision of high quality academic elements of the programme in forensic psychology, specifically to plan, oversee and audit the academic components of the DForenPsy programme. Line manage the work of the Clinical Tutor Team, including supervision, training and induction of Clinical Tutors. Coordinate and support the work of programme convenors and external teachers. Chair appropriate programme committees overseeing the Clinical elements of the programme. Support the DForenPsy Programme Director in reviewing and updating clinical assessment conventions and regulations. With the support of the DForenPsy Programme Director, oversee module review and development for the programme as a whole. Write and maintain relevant sections of the Programme handbook and policies. Contribute to other administrative duties as directed by the DForenPsy Programme Director. Contribute to teaching and training in the broader clinical / professional areas of DClinPGR portfolio of Programmes / Psychology Department as directed by the DForenPsy Programme Director. Contribute to the planning and delivery of DForenPsy post-qualification continuing professional development. Managing people Managing people 1. Communication Disseminate conceptual and complex ideas to a wide variety of audiences using appropriate media and methods to promote understanding. Liaison and Networking Lead and develop internal networks for example by chairing and participating in DClinPGR portfolio of Programmes, Departmental, Faculty or University committees or working groups. Act as an external examiner to other Institutions and provide professional advice as appropriate. Lead and develop external networks for example with external examiners and assessors. Teamwork Lead teams within areas of responsibility. Ensure that teams within the DClinPGR portfolio of programmes work together. Act to resolve conflicts within and between teams. Pastoral care Act as the Responsible Person for Fitness to Practice Matters for DClinPGR portfolio of Programmes able to exercise sound and reasonable judgement about academic, practice-issues and procedural aspect of training. Deal with referred issues relating to pastoral care of students, referring them to sources of further help if required. Provide first line support for colleagues, referring them to sources of further help if required. Initiative, problem solving and decision-making Resolve problems affecting the delivery of programmes and modules in accordance with regulations. Make decisions regarding the operational aspects of educational programmes. Monitor student progress and retention. Identify opportunities for strategic development of new programmes or appropriate areas of activity and contributing to the development of such ideas. Planning and managing resources Be responsible for setting standards and monitoring progress against agreed criteria for area of responsibility. Be involved in DClinPGR portfolio of Programmes level strategic planning and contribute to the Institutions strategic planning processes. Plan and deliver consultancy or similar programmes and ensure that resources are available. Contribute to the selection of trainees. Attend staff meetings, appropriate committees and examination boards, as appropriate Contribute to the assessment of trainees academic, clinical and research performance, including appraisal.
