We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer with a strong civil engineering background to support the delivery of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installation on a live power station. This role involves heavy civil works including large-scale foundations, cable route infrastructure, and substation construction. You’ll play a key role in setting out, managing technical compliance, and supporting safe and efficient site delivery. Key Responsibilities Set out and oversee heavy civils works, including excavations, reinforced concrete bases, ducting, drainage, and access roads. Supervise installation of cable trenches, containment systems, earthing networks, and substation/transformer foundations. Ensure construction is executed to design specifications, drawings, and technical standards. Coordinate with subcontractors, project teams, and client representatives to drive program and quality objectives. Assist with preparation and review of RAMS, ITPs, and permits for civils packages. Conduct site surveys, manage as-built data, and maintain clear project records. Monitor safety, quality, and progress, reporting to the Site Manager or Project Engineer.Requirements Demonstrable experience as a Site Engineer on major infrastructure or energy projects. Background in heavy civils and structural concrete works – ideally within live or brownfield power generation environments. Experience on BESS, substation builds, or renewable energy civils projects is highly advantageous. Strong technical knowledge of setting out and surveying equipment (e.g. total station, GPS). Full UK Driving Licence. CSCS Card – essential. SMSTS or SSSTS – desirable. Confined spaces, EUSR (Power), or BESC certifications – advantageous. HNC / Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent – preferred
