The Pharmacy clinical trials team are looking for a Senior Pharmacy Assistant in clinical trials to support with the administration and dispensing of clinical trials. This would involve administrative duties as well as dispensing and medicines management duties. You will be trained to work in the dispensary and the aseptic unit to ensure ability to dispense for the full variety of clinical trials managed within the Pharmacy department. You will work alongside the Clinical Trials Pharmacist and the Clinical Trials Technician to ensure all of the clinical trials pharmacy files and clinical trial medications are kept current and ready for an inspection at all times. You will assist Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians in many aspects of the Pharmacy service helping to ensure the highest quality of pharmaceutical care is given to our patients. Main duties of the job Duties may include: Clinical Trials Undertake the receipt, dispensing, accountability, returns and destruction of clinical trials ensuring all trials are managed in accordance with GCP and study protocols. To process patient returned clinical trial medicines and clinical trial medicines destruction. To manage shipping and clinical trial medicines returns to trial sponsors with external vendors. To plan, organise and manage the daily workload of the pharmacy clinical trials service in conjunction with the clinical trials pharmacist and clinical trial pharmacy technician. To file clinical trials correspondence and documentation in the appropriate section(s) of pharmacy clinical trial site files. Dispensary & Stores To produce labels for dispensed drugs using the JAC computer system for inpatient, outpatient, community unit, TTOs, and CDs against the relevant previously clinically checked prescription or request. To dispense medication for inpatient, outpatient, community unit, TTOs and CDs against the previously clinically checked prescription or request in line with departmental policies and procedures using the JAC system. To assist the Senior Pharmacy Technician with the day-to-day distribution of medicines from Main Pharmacy Stores including: Ensuring all allocated top-ups and ward visits are completed in a timely manner and per schedule. To ensure the optimum use of the Automated Dispensing System and report any issues with its function when necessary.
