The University of Northampton is looking for a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registered midwife with clinical and educational experience for a substantive Lecturer position. The post will include teaching, assessing and supervising undergraduate students on the pre-registration Midwifery courses as well as contributing to a growing postgraduate and CPD portfolio of study within the Health Professions subject group and the wider Faculty of Health, Education and Society.
We are seeking a midwifery educator who can contribute to the delivery of education and research joining our passionate team. You will be a fellow of the Higher Education Academy or be willing to work towards application. Midwife educators with qualifications in the Systematic Physical Examination of the Newborn (NIPE) and Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) are welcomed as well as those with experience in leadership, high dependency maternity care, maternal medicine and genomics.
You will be based at Waterside campus (and other University of Northampton sites) but travel will be required to practice learning partner sites periodically. Hours will be between Monday - Friday from 9am and 5pm with occasional evening and weekend work supporting central University recruitment activities i.e. Open Days, student engagement and recruitment activities.

About you
You will have a passion for midwifery education, curriculum design and research, therefore experience in these areas would be desirable. You will have an understanding of using research methodology and a commitment to the University of Northampton research agenda. You will be joining a team who are committed to your professional development and will support you in developing skills as an academic, educator and in research.
Qualifications
Essential:
* Degree qualification or equivalent in relevant subject
* Relevant professional qualification - Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Midwife
* Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale
Desirable:
* Master’s degree in relevant subject
* Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion
* Systematic Physical Examination of the Newborn (NIPE) qualified
Faculty
The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer role in midwifery will be part of the Health Professions Subject group within the Faculty of Health, Education and Society, UoN. FHES embraces an Interprofessional and active blended learning approach to education. Undergraduate programmes include those in midwifery, paramedic science, dental nursing, social work, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and podiatry.
