Job summary Due to retirement, South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a full time, substantive Consultant Anaesthetist The successful candidates will join an extremely dynamic department of 67 Consultants, 14 SAS doctors and 30 rotating specialty trainees. The post holder will work in collaboration with the existing team to provide a high quality, progressive and professional anaesthetic service within a broad range of surgical specialties. Main duties of the job The job plan will cover a wide range of surgical specialties with a focus on anaesthesia for major surgery in adults and paediatric surgery Each post is offered at 10 basic Programmed Activities (PAs) consisting of 8.5 PAs Direct Clinical Care and 1.5 Supporting Professional Activities. Additional SPA may be available to those who take on additional roles. Clinical sessions may be performed at any of the Trusts sites. A varied portfolio is available consisting of elective and non-elective care in a wide range of surgical specialties for both adults and children. On call duties will be within the general on call rota (1 in 26) and weekend trauma rotas (4 weekend days per year) at Sunderland Royal Hospital. Participation in the on call rota at South Tyneside District Hospital is expected to be in place by the date of appointment.
