Job Overview
About the Team:
The Capital Estates & Facilities Team provides a full range of services across SE London to the boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Southwark, Wandsworth, Bromley, Bexley, and Lewisham. The Team has an experienced and skilled workforce.
About the Role:
Responsible for the planning and resource allocation, organizing, and management of Portering and Security staff to meet trust requirements.
To be responsible for maintaining a programme of high-profile security patrols of the hospital and grounds.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Management of the Portering, Drivers, and Security services across the Trust.
2. Coordinate the waste handling collections and management of the collections and disposal.
3. Provide a customer-focused service assisting with patient moves and transfers.
4. Responsible for the in-house patient/staff transport service.
5. Manage the Trust Vehicles, servicing, MOTs, and documentation.
6. Establish a recharge process for office, furniture, and department moves and the disposal of confidential waste.
7. Control out of hours access by contractors and visitors, ensuring appropriate authorization is in place and security is maintained.
8. Ensure that the hospital is made secure by locking all appropriate doors and windows during the silent hours and ensuring these doors are unlocked as required, in accordance with the established procedure.
9. Assist both members of the public and staff against violence and aggression incidents that occur on the hospital premises and liaise with the Police to ensure that all incidents are documented.
10. Provide a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
11. Assist in the development of policy and operational matters related to the management of security within the Trust.
12. Create a pro-security culture and a safe and therapeutic environment within the Trust.
13. Ensure security incidents are reported in a simple and concise manner.
14. Participate in the multidisciplinary team and incident de-briefs for risk assessment purposes.
15. Undertake physical security audits, prepare risk assessments, and review action plans.
16. Identify and describe appropriate technical, cost-effective, and physical solutions for security management services.
17. Assume responsibility for the administration and record-keeping of the Facilities and Security systems.
18. Continuously update efficient means for delivery through professional development.
19. Prepare reports and presentations as required by the Head of Facilities.
20. Observe the appropriate confidentiality of all documentation.
21. Recruit, motivate, train, develop, and retain appropriate staff.
22. Ensure that all staff have appraisals and personal development plans are in place.
23. Undertake ad hoc projects in support of the Head of Facilities.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* BTEC HNC or equivalent managerial qualification or experience.
* Full UK Driving license.
* SIA licence.
Experience
* Experience at a senior level in Facilities or Security Management.
* IT literate using MS programmes.
* Experience of managing Portering and Security teams.
* Proven experience of providing management reports and data.
* Good knowledge of Estates practice within the NHS.
* Ability to work within a challenging environment with previous experience in this service sector.
Knowledge
* Good understanding of Trust Policies.
* Security Systems, Procedures, and Protocols.
* Comprehensive understanding of security management techniques and solutions.
