Stirling Dynamics is recruiting a Senior or Principal Electronics Hardware Design Engineer to join the Software & Electronic Hardware team.
Due to recent contract wins and supporting continued growth, Stirling Dynamics is looking for a talented and experienced Electronics Design Engineer to join our team to work with us delivering complex electronic based solutions for electro-mechanical products, projects, and services to the world's leading Aerospace & Defence companies. This role is to fill a position in the dynamic multi discipline team developing electro-mechanical based systems for Electric Vertical Take Off and Landing Aircraft (EVTOL) and Electromechanical Actuators.
This role will be based in our Bristol office with occasional travel to our clients’ sites as required. However, as part of our commitment to flexible working, employees are able to work a hybrid working model.
Responsibilities
* The successful candidate will be responsible for producing electronics designs for high quality aerospace products.
* They will take products through the full lifecycle from requirements to production and customer delivery.
* Develop and simulate analogue and digital circuits for aerospace applications.
* Select electronic components based on specifications, availability, cost, and reliability.
* Test prototypes, perform debugging and iterate on designs.
* Prepare technical documentation in accordance with engineering processes and project needs.
* Participate in design reviews.
* Track project milestones, coordinate tasks with team members, and report progress to stakeholders.
* Collaborate with cross-discipline engineering teams.
* Provide technical support for hardware manufacturing.
* The level and scope of responsibilities will be dependent on the successful candidates' knowledge and experience.
Qualifications
* Candidates will ideally be degree qualified in a related discipline.
* Ideally a registered Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership.

Technical areas
* Motor drives.
* Analogue sensor interfaces.
* SMPS design.
* Failure protection circuits.
* DFM - strong understanding of PCB manufacturing.
* DFT - experience of EMC, RoHS and environmental testing.
* Proven experience of taking electronic products into production.
* Hands on experience of test and measurement equipment.
Working practices
* Conducts design reviews, both giving and receiving feedback.
* Worked to AS9100 or ISO9001 QMS.
* Worked with Agile and/or Scrum environments.
* Experience in a regulated industry (desirable).
Toolsets
* Altium.
* LTSpice.
* Git, Jira & Confluence.
