An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Practice Nurse to join our friendly and busy team at Harbury and Bishops Itchington Surgeries. The role will require the applicant to work up to 28 hours per week. We are a proactive, progressive and well established practice spread across 2 sites of which you will be expected to work at both. Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills. They will work independently in accordance with the NMC code of Conduct and provide evidence based care. The candidate will ensure continuation of their professional development with support from the practice team. They will support the delivery of the following services to patients:
* Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed.
* Wound treatments, applying and removing dressings and sutures.
* Administering vaccinations including children's.
* Taking patient samples, swabs and specimens. Preferably cytology specimens.
* Carrying out physical examinations, blood pressure, urinalysis, ECGs, venepuncture and ear examination.
* Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil/implant fitting and removal.
* Chronic disease management of long term conditions such as COPD, Asthma and Diabetes preferably.
* Provide patient health education and advice including travel advice.
About us
At Harbury and Bishops Itchington Surgeries we have 5 GPs, a practice Nurse, HCA and a wider clinical team that includes Clinical Pharmacists, Social Prescribers and Health and Well Being Practitioners. We are also a training practice with a regular team of registrars, medical students and nursing students year round. We all work together to provide a high standard of care to our patients.
Job responsibilities
To provide general and specific health screening to the practice population, in line with agreed protocols and reference to the GP, where necessary.
Assess, plan, provide and evaluate nursing care to meet the needs of the individual and patient groups.
To work within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
To carry out evidence based nursing care.
Proactively establish good communication networks with all members of the practice team.
Be responsible to manage their own clinics and carry out associated tasks.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
* Cervical cytology qualification
* Chronic disease management
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Able to work autonomously and within a team
* Ability to manage time effectively
* Experience of using clinical IT systems
* Experience of working in a Primary Care environment
