Education and Qualifications
* Registered Children’s Nurse, Registered Nurse, or Registered Midwife
* Qualification in Specialty
* Teaching and assessing qualification
Experience
* Recent experience at senior staff nurse level within neonatal nursing
* Evidence of clinical competence in neonatal nursing skills
* Evidence of ability to assume a lead clinical role
* Understanding of the setting and monitoring of standards
* Evidence of teaching and developing staff
Skills Ability and Knowledge
* Demonstrable clinical skills in neonatal nursing
* Ability to make clinical decisions
* Ability to manage the care of neonatal conditions including intensive, high dependency and special care
* Neonatal IV therapy, venepuncture and cannulation skills
* Demonstrate ability to obtain and evaluate information to aid decision making
* IT skills including word processing, email, and internet
* NMC Regulations
* NHS Modernisation initiatives
* Understanding of Child protection awareness
* Knowledge of clinical governance agenda
* Aware of clinical risk and quality issues
