The Chemical Regulatory Expert contributes to the continuity and growth of business by implementing the necessary activities and processes to ensure compliance with regulations applicable to the products, materials and business activities of Bakelite European legal entities.
The Chemical Regulatory Expert will provide expertise and guidance to Bakelite European functions, teams and customers as the internal expert on the principle EU and UK chemical management laws and regulations.
Job Description
1. Fully responsible for maintaining REACH registrations from communication with consortia to dossier registration updates, substance review, assessment of downstream impacts, update of SDS and development of Exposure Scenario.
2. Fully responsible for submitting substance and product notifications as required by regulations in the assigned regions.
3. Fully responsible for the review and approval of new raw materials and vendors and for the maintenance of the related data in the company ERP and SDS authoring systems.
4. Responsible for regulatory compliance of existing and new products as subject-matter-expert on applicable product and chemical regulations in the assigned regions.
5. Fully responsible for preparing and/or reviewing Safety Data Sheets and labels to ensure they comply with individual region regulatory product classification.
6. Fully responsible for addressing in a timely manner internal and external customer inquiries on regulatory matters such as REACH Compliance, Chemical Inventory Reviews, RoHS Letters, and on product SDSs.
7. Support the maintenance and update of the company ERP and SDS authoring system.
8. Support the implementation of current and new chemical regulations in assigned regions.
Education & Skill Requirements
1. Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Health Science, Biology, Toxicology or similar.
2. Minimum of 4+ years relevant experience in product stewardship and/or regulatory compliance including SDS/Label authoring and DG classification in Europe; Asia is a plus.
3. Computer skills (SAP or similar ERP system, SDS authoring software, regulatory databases).
4. Working knowledge of analytical and reaction chemistry a plus.
5. Experience working with international and multifunctional teams a plus.
6. German speaking and knowledge of German specific regulations such as WGK a plus.
