About the team
Statutory Panel Report Writer role sits within the Adoption and Fostering, Business Support Service - CS Spoke, under Resources. The role is in the Fostering & Adoption Panels team, which consists of Business Support Officers, Business Support Statutory Panel Report Writers, a Business Support Supervisor, Panel Advisers, and a Service Manager.
The team interacts with colleagues across Fostering and Adoption services including Business Support, Social Workers, Team Managers, and Independent Panel members including Chair and Vice Chairs.
Business Support Officers deliver detailed minutes of Fostering and Adoption Panels and Children’s Best Interests meetings, ensuring the team helps deliver the best outcomes for children. There will be opportunities to be involved with statistics and data analysis, including minuting the quarterly statutory Panel Management Meetings.
The role supports Fostering, Adoption, and Children’s Best Interests panels to be minuted accurately and to statutory timescales, aiding the approval of foster carers and adopters, long-term match placements for children, and changes of approval for carers.
Working Pattern
Wednesday (5.5 hours including a 30 min break)
Thursday (8 hours including a 60 min break)
Friday (7.5 hours including a 60 min break)
About the role
Attend Adoption and Fostering panels weekly, taking minutes of meetings and completing post-panel tasks to ensure the approval of new Adopters and Foster carers is completed to statutory timescales.
Manage time effectively to meet statutory deadlines for completing minutes and ADM decision letters for approval.
Perform a range of administrative duties such as letter writing, case management, and process creation.
Handle complex correspondence related to panels, including ‘Appeals’ and technology queries from Panel Members.
Liaise with Independent Panel Members, Team Managers, and Social Workers presenting cases.
Update and manage databases and spreadsheets, providing reports related to panel business, and contributing data to the Panel Adviser annual reports.
Respond to inquiries and provide required information while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection regulations.
Provide professional support to Managers, acting as a first point of contact for Senior Managers, dealing with confidential matters.
Demonstrate expertise in software packages like Microsoft Office, producing documentation according to local and statutory/legal requirements.
Minute quarterly panel management meetings and support training events for independent panel members.
Maintain appraisals spreadsheets for Panel Advisers related to Independent Panel members.
About you
Essential:
* Competent administrator with experience taking accurate minutes.
* Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel.
* Confidence in understanding regulations and processes as a contact for Social Workers and Managers.
* Excellent customer care skills.
* Self-motivated, professional, and approachable with a commitment to teamwork.
* Flexibility to undertake various administrative tasks under departmental policies.
* Full driving license required for travel to panel meetings in various Hertfordshire locations.
Desirable:
* Good level of education: GCSE, A-level, or Vocational equivalent; previous experience in service delivery or a business-related qualification is beneficial.
