Your efforts will directly contribute to reducing our carbon environmental footprint, improving resource efficiency, & elevating the sustainability profile of our healthcare services.
You will apply your expertise in areas such as energy, sustainable procurement, waste management, and biodiversity, while deepening your understanding of the links between environmental health and physical/mental health. You’ll use your strong people and communication skills to collaborate widely across the Trust & beyond, building your professional network while fostering innovation & continuous improvement, supporting our essential progress towards local, regional and national green targets.
Working closely with the Head of Compliance & Risk Services and the Berkshire Healthcare Green Group, you will be responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of business plans, strategies and policies to support the Trust and wider NHS’s commitment to reach net zero by 2045.
This is a senior manager Trust-wide role requiring the successful candidate to have well developed leadership, communication, influence, and change management skills. The role has both strategic and operational responsibilities in the management of the Trust’s sustainability and green agenda.There is flexibility for some work from home and otherTrust locations across Berkshire to support both clinical and non-clinical teams with the delivery of local expectations.You will:
• Be responsible forthe ongoing delivery and further development of our Trust’s Green Plan and all programmes of work under this strategy, ensuring that we are on track to meet our sustainability targets and obligations.
• Be our lead contact for sustainability with an overarching responsibility to develop and embed sustainability principles across all our Trust’s work, decision-making and practices.
• Develop and promote improved energy efficiency and support the Trust’s commitment to reduce energy usage and CO2 emissions.
• Collate andanalyse complex information tomonitorand report onourprogress,andassistin securing funding for the implementation of sustainable/ environmental projects.
• Promote,leadand raise awareness on activities, campaigns, or projects.
• Work with the communications team and net zero heroes to develop staff engagement initiativesaimed at supporting our green agenda.
