The Role
The site SHE Manager has overall responsibility for managing Safety, Health & Environment improvement activities to achieve excellence at the site level. The individual will work with site Supply Chain teams to develop the local SHE Strategy and improvement plans in order to achieve sustainable SHE excellence by reducing injuries, illnesses and environmental impact as measured in the core KPIs.
Responsibilities
* Deploy the global/cluster SHE strategy, policy and standards in the site to achieve excellent sustainable results
* Coordinate the site teams in order to deliver Occupational Health, Safety and Environment targets and objectives
* Drive safety and environment risk assessment and develop/implement appropriate controls
* Reduce the site’s environmental impact in the areas of hazardous & non-hazardous waste, CO2 emissions and water & energy consumption
* Lead the Safety Pillar in accordance with WCM Continuous Improvement Methodology
* Develop a thorough understanding of Behaviour Based Safety Program and support deployment in the site
* Develop a thorough understanding of Process Safety Management Program and support deployment in the site and support the application of guidelines and procedures for Process Safety assessment (SIMAS)
* Influence all levels of the team, driving safety and environmental leadership as an active member of the Site Leadership Team
* Monitor site legal compliance and ensure the site meets all local and national regulatory requirements and standards, provide advice on national SHE legislation requirements & implement relevant procedures and policies
* Work closely with Occupational Health personnel to identify and mitigate risks which may lead to occupational ill health
* Assist the site leader to develop and manage the internal crisis committees and safety committee; support the site leader in managing serious incident investigation and analysis
* Advise line management in all accident/incident investigations
* Conduct trend analysis from incidents, near misses, safe behaviour observations and deep compliance audits
* Develop and deploy internal SHE auditing and inspection systems, participate in audits of other organisations as required
* Appointed Local Security Officer (LSO), member of UK Security working with 3rd party contractors and Facilities Management teams to ensure site obligations are met and UK policies adhered to.
* Determine training needs and assist in delivery of training programs
Skills and Experience
Essential:
* Experience working in Supply Chain operations
* Excellent working knowledge of safety, health and environmental legislation
* Manufacturing and/or Engineering experience
* Proven track record of analytical thinking and project management
* Experience as a safety manager
Preferred/Desirable:
* NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or working towards
* Chartered Membership IOSH
* Experience working in an FMCG / Food / Refreshments environment
