We are looking to recruit a Patient Services Manager to support our experienced administrative team. The prospective candidate should be able to demonstrate good leadership and management skills.
GP experience is essential. Good communications skills are essential along with good administrative and organisational skills. You will be responsible for the management of a large team of clinical and non-clinical staff. You will work closely with the Practice Manager, supporting them in the smooth running of the practice.
Main duties of the job
1. Ensure that all administrative tasks are carried out accurately and efficiently, including patient registration, appointment booking, and medical record management.
2. Manage the reception team, supporting staff development, providing guidance and direction, ensuring staff are up to date with mandatory training.
3. Support the GP Practice Manager in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
4. Ensure that the practice is clean, safe, and welcoming for patients and staff.
About us
We are a large supportive training practice based in Telford with 24,800 patients and based over two sites. We have a large clinical team consisting of 16 GPs and 30 clinical staff, including nurses and allied health professionals, all supported by the administrative team.
Job responsibilities
Role Summary (but will not be limited to):
1. Assist the GP Practice Manager in the management of the practice, including staff management and operational management.
2. Ensure that all administrative tasks are carried out accurately and efficiently, including patient registration, appointment booking, and medical record management.
3. Manage the reception team, supporting staff development, providing guidance and direction, ensuring staff are up to date with mandatory training.
4. Carry out return to work interviews after short periods of sickness or other leave.
5. Deal with annual leave requests.
6. Support the GP Practice Manager in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
7. Manage the practice's communication channels, including telephone, email, and social media.
8. Assist in the recruitment and training of new staff members.
9. Ensure that the practice is clean, safe, and welcoming for patients and staff.
10. Provide support to the GP Practice Manager in the preparation of reports and presentations for the practice's partners and stakeholders.
11. Work across both sites on a weekly basis.

* Previous experience in a similar role within a GP Practice.
* Experience of working and managing teams.
* Experience of leading and motivating teams.
* Experience of working within the NHS.
* Experience with dealing with patient complaints.
* Over six months experience in a management role.
* Ability to work in a changing environment and work under pressure.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills.
