Design Manager who will be required to work on a Contract based in Glasgow.
You must be sole UK national and to have worked/lived in the UK for the last 5 years to apply for this role, SC clearance will be required, the client will take you through the clearance process.

Rate: Negotiable dependant on experience
Hybrid: 3 days office, 2 days home
Tasks:
* Leading working groups, meetings and reviews with Consultant / Contractors
* Leading delivery of technical packages of work.
* managing a team of multi discipline engineers.
* Authoring, development, assessment, maintenance and management of the suite of Clyde Nuclear
* Infrastructure Design Substantiation documents.
* Management of design changes/concessions.
* Presentation of Clyde Design substantiations, to Clyde ‘Due Process’ nuclear safety committees
* Production and development of Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) Schedule, operating procedures and results to satisfy design requirements and safety case through life.
* Producing Periodic Review of Safety reports.
* Providing advice and direction to internal and external stakeholders.
* Production of Independent Technical Review (ITA)/Independent Peer Review (IPR).
* Use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing
* and emerging technology.
* Apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct,
* commission, operate, maintain, decommission and re-cycle engineering processes, systems, services and products in a nuclear/high risk environment.
* Producing robust technical justification to allow for relevant civil/structural design modifications to be authorised within a high hazard industry.
* Review technical reports and other safety case submissions from external contractors.
* Check and review calculations and technical documents written by other members of staff.
* Produce and improve technical processes within JPT.
Experience:
* The Design Manager must have 12-15 years’ experience and be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge and skills required in the technical management of large scale and complex design development throughout the design lifecycle.
* Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice as relevant to discipline, post and project requirements.
* Strong understanding and experience of working in BIM environments.
* Sound project specification, planning, project management and budgeting experience.
* Sound understanding of Company and departmental procedures relating to Design, Health & Safety (including Principal Designer responsibilities under CDM) and Quality requirements.
* Working knowledge of relevant engineering office computer applications
* Experience of the design support to construction, operation, refit/repair of conventional and nuclear submarines and/or facilities.
Desirable:
* Ideal candidates would already have experience within HMNB Clyde or a similar high-risk environment.
* Familiarity with safety case development techniques e.g., HAZID/HAZOP studies.
* Experience of working in the UK nuclear industry (energy or defence), particularly in the design and assessment of safety-related structures, systems and components.
* Knowledge of UK and US nuclear industry regulation and practice, and application of relevant nuclear specific codes and standards.
