Job overview
This exciting new post has been created following the successful expansion of the UHNM Clinical Pharmacy Service.
We are looking to recruit a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic pharmacist to lead the clinical pharmacy service to our Specialised Medicine Directorate, focusing on Gastroenterology and Respiratory Medicine.
You will lead an amazing team of Advanced Specialist Pharmacists, Junior Pharmacists, Medicines Management Technicians and Medicines Management Assistants providing the best possible care for our Gastroenterology and Respiratory patients.
You will also work alongside our Advanced Clinical Lead Pharmacist for Emergency Medicine and our Advanced Clinical Lead Pharmacist for General Medicine to drive forward the Pharmacy Service to the wider Medicine Division and implement further innovative ways of working.
We are passionate about investing in the training and development of our pharmacy staff and have a fully established Pharmacy Education and Training Team.

Main duties of the job
· Be a visible pharmacy leader and role model with the accountability and responsibility for the provision and development of safe, effective, and cost-effective pharmacy services to Gastroenterology and Respiratory Medicine.
· Lead a team of highly skilled pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy staff working to deliver cutting edge pharmacy services to patients.
· Support the further development of the clinical pharmacy workforce including the role of Medicines Management Technicians and Medicines Management Assistants.
* Develop a strategic plan for the operational delivery of clinical pharmacy services to Respiratory and Gastroenterology, supporting a positive patient experience and the medicines optimisation agenda.
* Seek and implement timely initiatives and policies to improve quality, safety, performance, service delivery and patient flow.
· Work as an independent prescriber on in-patient wards and/or in outpatient clinics.

Essential Qualifications
* Masters degree in Pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent
* Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma / MSc or equivalent Qualification.
* Commitment and evidence of professional updating and formal continuous professional development (CPD)
* Membership of appropriate professional representative organisations
* Training in advanced health assessment
* Member of the RPSGB
* Formal Leadership or Management Qualification
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
* Recent experience working as a Senior Clinical Pharmacist in a Hospital setting
* Experience working in Gastroenterology and/or Respiratory Medicine
* Good understanding of current hospital pharmacy practice and the NHS and their potential impact on clinical pharmacy services
* Able to demonstrate application of advanced / specialist knowledge of drug usage to clinical situations
* Able to lead and deliver a specialist clinical pharmacy service
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Pride in establishing and maintaining high standards of work and has attention to detail
* Able to present written information clearly, concisely and accurately
* Able to contribute to the strategic planning and development of clinical pharmacy services as a whole
* Experience of leading a specialist clinical team
* Recognised as undertaking peer review activities within working practice
* Previous experience of delivering research individually or as part of an MDT
* Extensive experience in the Gastroenterology clinical speciality
* Extensive experience in the Respiratory clinical speciality
* Previous experience of working with peers external to the organisation
* Experience of clinical leadership at a national level
* Experience of developing specialist pharmacy policy at a national level
* Demonstrates authorship of primary evidence in peer review journal
