Job summary Barts Heart Centre are looking for an experienced Advanced Surgical Care Practitioner (ASCP) to join our cardiothoracic surgical team. This is an exciting opportunity, for those with experience as a qualified surgical care practitioner at master's level, to develop your career with us and join our existing team of Band 8A ASCP and Band 7 SCP's. As a senior member of the team, it is important you are dynamic and flexible, able to act as a role model and inspire others. We have an in-house supervised development programme for our trainee SCP's, this role includes teaching and mentoring Trainee SCP's and other multi professionals within the service. The role of the ASCP at St Bartholomew's hospital has been integral in delivering innovative care, including leading the Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) program, supporting Minimally Invasive Cardiac surgery and Robotic cardiac surgery amongst others. Main duties of the job Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge across a range of subject areas relevant to the cardiothoracic patient The post holder will be expected to perform duties with a high degree of clinical skill and expertise whilst demonstrating advanced knowledge to deliver patient outcomes. Work at an advanced level and be able to practice both autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team. Be self-directed to ensure the provision of enhanced continuity and high standards of care to patients requiring cardiothoracic surgery. The post holder will work closely with Consultant Surgeons, senior clinical leaders and other members of the multidisciplinary team in the performance of this role.
