At East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, our vision is to be widely recognised for providing safe, personal and effective care. We currently provide high quality services and treat over 600,000 people across East Lancashire and the surrounding area. We employ over 7,000 staff, many of whom are internationally renowned and have won awards for their work.
The Cardiac Care Ward (CCW) is a 26-bedded ward whose patient group is largely patients with a wide variety of cardiac problems. We accept patients from the MAUs, CCU, Cardiac Catheter Lab and the general medical wards. The patients can sometimes be monitored by telemetry and other support devices.
We provide a 24hr service 7 days a week to the patients of East Lancashire.
We work closely with The Coronary Care Unit (CCU), which is a 10-bedded high-tech unit looking after patients who require a higher level of cardiac support. Staff would be required to rotate to CCU for short spells on a rota system. This enables us to cover staffing more flexibly.
