Senior Assistant Headteacher (Curriculum) - St Gregory's Catholic High School
The role
Full Time Permanent
St. Gregory’s Catholic High School seeks to appoint a Senior Assistant Head Teacher to join our thriving school community and highly successful leadership team to build on our continued success as we move into a new exciting chapter.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional candidate to begin a new career chapter in 2025 by joining a successful and thriving school community, taking your current potential to a new level.
The senior team at St Gregory’s is comprised of the Headteacher, two Deputy Headteachers, and four Assistant Headteachers who are supported by a Director of Finance.
The Senior Assistant Headteacher is a new role providing a bridge position between Assistant Head and Deputy Head and will come with additional responsibilities to prepare you well for future promotions.
This is a rare opportunity to join one of the highest performing (top 3) schools in the Liverpool Archdiocese and Warrington area where you will get to work with pupils and staff who have a love of learning, outstanding behaviour, and the highest attendance levels in Warrington.
Our most recent examination performance produced a progress 8 score of +0.32, well above the national average. This performance is sustained year on year.
You will currently be an existing Assistant Headteacher wishing to join a new dynamic team and take on a new challenge and environment, or you will have exceptional experience as a high performing successful middle leader with a strong track record of impact and performance.
Access to NPQ courses will be provided to the successful applicant for continuous CPD, and we support all applicants who wish to eventually move into deputy and headship posts in future years.
About the School
In July 2024, Ofsted’s inspection report confirmed that the school continued to be ‘Good’ in every area and the school was graded as ‘Outstanding’ in our Section 48 Inspection of the Catholic Life provision of the school in February 2019.
We encourage all applicants to read both reports and to review our school website too.
The opening paragraph from the recent Ofsted report reads: “Pupils are proud to attend this school. They value the strong relationships that they have with their teachers. Pupils positively embrace the school’s values.
For example, they are respectful and empathetic towards other people regardless of their culture or background.”
We welcome applications from outstanding, driven individuals with a sustained track record of success in your current or recent roles in school. We are looking for someone who has high ambition for children and themselves.
Finalising of the specific nature of the role will be determined on offer of the post but the dominant aspects of the role will be in curriculum leadership.
Our school is at the heart of the thriving Catholic Parishes of West Warrington situated in an area of substantial growth next to all of the key motorway routes in the North West.
We take pride in our relationship with the local community, partner primary schools, and our partnerships within the archdiocese trust.
Our school is well oversubscribed with a waiting list for admission in every year group. Our recent expansion in pupil numbers is now complete and has coincided with a building refurbishment of 23 new classrooms, a new sports hall, and a new chapel.
We are now relishing the challenge of continuing our successful journey towards providing an outstanding whole school provision. Your qualities will include being an outstanding communicator, dedication, commitment, and resilience in the face of challenges whilst showing passion and ambition for all children. Positive relationships are key to our school.
How to apply
The school welcomes and encourages potential applicants to meet with the Headteacher to discuss the role further but this is not a formal requirement. We also encourage you to review our St Gregory's Catholic High School website.
