Main duties of the job
The Role of the Nursing Associate is to be responsible for delivering high quality, patient centred, compassionate care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (or other registered healthcare professional) for patients attending the Gender Affirmation Service (GAS).
Have the ability to work without direct supervision, at times delivering care independently and in line with the individuals care plan within the parameters of the Nurse Associate role, accessing clinical and care advice as needed.
To work flexibly in the masculinising and feminising clinic.
Be an accountable professional, working within the parameters of the Nurse Associate role (as per NMC guidance), and your scope of competence.
Carry out specific clinical and care tasks and responsibilities to a high standard and competency, under the direction of a registered nurse or other registered healthcare professionals, dependent on the setting.
Have proficient attitudes and behaviours compatible with NHS and the Trust PROUD values.
Other aspects include housekeeping and administration duties which involve overseeing the maintenance of a safe environment for both patients and staff.
Monitoring the CCGS CNS's email inbox and refer to nurse specialists as applicable.
As a registered nursing associate, you will have a role in triaging referrals sent from the referral centre.

Work as part of a designated clinical team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the patient.
Contribute to the planning of care delivery in association with the Registered Nurse.
Contribute to on-going assessments recognising when it is necessary to refer to others for reassessment and action.
Demonstrate the ability to recognise the deteriorating patient or other situations that require escalation to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice.
Implement and evaluate individual care / treatment plans.
Improve the quality of care by contributing to the continuous monitoring of patients care.
Accept delegated responsibility from the Registered Nurse to monitor individual plans of care to meet the immediate and on-going needs of patients.
