The Business Development Manager Role: The role of Business Development Manager incorporates identifying & qualifying business opportunities to grow volumes within the agency. Developing and maintaining customer relationships with clients across a range of sectors is primary to this as it helps to ensure long-term volume growth. The successful candidate will have a responsibility to manage their portfolio of accounts to ensure that all customers receive a five-star journey in all aspects of the day-to-day service delivery. Part of this will be to ensure that they maintain close communication with the other UK departments and agencies across the European network to ensure all customer needs are met as smoothly as possible. It is a key requirement for the successful candidate to be able to demonstrate internal and external stakeholder management to be able to manage business opportunities. Your responsibilities as our Business Development Manager will include: Achieve budgeted volume targets across their portfolio of customers. Manage Business pipeline effectively to increase volumes across their portfolio of customers. Build a pipeline by identifying and qualifying new opportunities. Follow up on sales leads to secure new business. Using different platforms to search for new business opportunities and sales leads. Establish and maintain excellent customer relationships across their range of customers through regular customer interactions including face-to-face meetings, MS Teams meetings and regular phone calls. Perform pipeline compliance to ensure success of all volumes are accurately recorded, monitored, and delivered. Ensure any customer issues raised are managed and resolved in a timely manner by demonstrating effective internal communication between relevant departments. Representing CMA-CGM SSL at relevant functions, workshops and exhibitions when required. Ensure the smooth handover of accounts to the customer service team and other agencies through effective communication and stakeholder management. Create and promote a positive support network for your customers through effective teamwork and communication with the other agencies. Managing customer invoice disputes and performing route cause analysis to avoid repeats. Creating new sales leads or exploring new verticals not only acting on sales leads given Always looking to differentiate themselves from the competition To succeed in the Business Development Manager? role, you'll need: Business graduate or experienced customer account manager within the sales sector. Experience of the shipping industry is preferable but not essential. In-depth knowledge of the shipping industry – knowledge of the short-sea market is a bonus. Technical skills in developing specialist supply chain networks. Demonstrated experience in a sales environment. Experience of effective customer meeting skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills Proven development skills ie, sales and marketing strategy planning. Adaptable, flexible and solutions-driven with sound decision-making skills. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. Strong Microsoft Office skills.
