The Children with Disabilities (CWD) service offers a comprehensive service to children with significant learning disabilities, physical disabilities and life limiting health conditions. We put children, young people and their families at the heart of everything we do.
As a Social Worker within our CWD team, you’ll be responsible for receiving and coordinating complex referrals and performing the resulting assessments, making professional judgements to create care plans for children and families.
You’ll take the lead role and responsibility for coordinating the multi-agency approach to prevent and address child protection issues and children in need. No matter the case or task, you’ll always promote anti-discriminatory practice and empower others.
Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.
About you
We are looking for an experienced Social Worker with substantial post qualifying experience in a social/health care field.
You’ll be a strong and effective communicator, both verbally and in written correspondence, with the ability to deal with a wide range of service users, including children and other professionals.
This is a rewarding role where you’ll have the opportunity to develop your existing knowledge and understanding of child development and issues of family dynamics.
We do ask that you have Dip SW, CQSW, or a recognised equivalent professional qualification and are able to regularly visit children and families in their own homes.
We’re a small borough with a real family feel. So when you join us, we’ll really look after you. You’ll only take on a manageable number of cases, have plenty of flexible working options and access to development opportunities. So, if you’re passionate about driving change and supporting our children and young people, please click apply to join our family and realise the remarkable!
Application process
Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to declare all unspent cautions and convictions; and also any adult cautions (simple or conditional), and spent convictions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2020). A person’s criminal record will not in itself prevent a person from being appointed to this post. Applicants will not be refused posts because of offences which are not relevant to, and do not place them at or make them a risk in, the role for which they are applying. However in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such offence, as detailed above, will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority.
