THE ROLE This is a full-time position working within the amazing teams that deliver EMG Gravity Media’s wide range of sport, music, and entertainment broadcast technical facilities to many of the UK’s most prominent broadcasters. It takes a special kind of togetherness to help bring these events to life on screen. The Unit Manager is a pivotal position between production teams, staff and freelance crew; focusing all their efforts on seamlessly delivering high quality outside broadcasts. The role will be focused around the Outside Broadcast Truck operation but may also include working with our global flypack teams. It is predominantly site based, but will feature planning time at home and at the offices in High Wycombe and Watford as required. The role will involve Project Planning and Unit Management for major Sports and Entertainment strands and the on-site delivery of a variety of technical and operational projects. We’re looking for cool headed individuals who can keep calm in a live, time pressured environment, capable of dealing with ever changing landscapes and requests whilst on site. This is a client-facing role, suited to a people-focused professional. Planning is key for all our jobs and requires a logical and detail driven approach and a proactive professional mindset. The individual should also have excellent communication skills which are essential in enabling the transformation of a clients ideas into a reality. The Unit Manager is our primary representative on site and a figure head for our crew and is someone who must be able to galvanise and organise people effectively. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibility for the technical planning, supervision and delivery of major contract and non-contract operations. Working closely with EMG Production departments and clients to deliver programming within pre-determined budgets and schedules. Nurturing of Client relationships. Managing & leading the onsite delivery of the Outside Broadcast and Remote Operations, managing large teams and third-party contractors giving clear direction and regular reporting. Making sure our teams work safely. Close adherence and on-site leadership of Health & Safety, including but not limited to BS7909, First Aid and specific technical standards and policy’s. Production of EMG risk assessment documentation. Working closely with EMG Commercial, Production and Base Operations departments to deliver programming to the high standards our clients expect, within pre-determined budgets and schedules. Capturing all extra requirements from both on site logistics to final costings. Contributing to initiatives utilising new technologies and efficient ways of working.
