Permanent: Chief Inspector
Location: Bristol
Hours of work: 37.5-hour week, Monday to Thursday 7.30 to 4pm, Friday 7.30 to 1pm
PN: The working pattern is changing to Monday to Wednesday 6.30 to 4.30, Thursday 6.30 to 4pm with effect from 2nd January 2025. We will be closed on a Friday.
Salary: £17-£20 per hour
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Inspector to control the day-to-day running of the inspection department within an engineering company in Bristol.
The ideal candidate will come from an aerospace background and have experience in training others.
The Role:
To maintain and monitor quality assurance and quality control activities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Quality Assurance
2. Ensure Company quality systems are adhered to always.
3. Assist the Quality Manager in maintaining the Quality Systems of the Company e.g. by identifying trends in non-conformances, performing audits and supplier assessments.
4. Assist the Quality Manager in the promotion of awareness of customer requirements and continuous improvement.
5. Assist the Quality Manager in ensuring all company employees are aware of their quality responsibilities using whatever means appropriate.
6. Assist the Quality Manager in resolving matters pertaining to quality including customer and supplier liaison.
7. Preparation and review of Non-conformance Reports, FAIRS, DARs, Concessions, Waivers, and Final Inspection Reports.
8. Create and maintain calibration records within the IFS ERP System.
9. Collate certificates and reports for documentation packages.
10. Liaise with outside inspectors and auditors.
11. Create product passports.
12. Create quality instructions.
1. Quality Control
2. Oversee the inspection staff to ensure compliance e.g. drawings, specifications, codes, standards, and regulations.
3. To verify traceability of components is maintained throughout all manufacturing and inspection operations.
4. Monitor route records to verify operations are completed sequentially and signed appropriately.
5. Monitor quality-related shop floor activities.
6. Record returned and reworked items on non-conformances.
7. Visually inspect components predominantly on-site but possibly throughout the UK in response to customer maintenance programmes.
8. Aberlink & Tutor experience an advantage.
9. Perform final inspection on items leaving the factory, including completion and verification of route record operations.
1. SKILLS
2. Understanding of engineering production requirements to achieve output.
3. Effective administrator with good written & oral communication skills and organisational skills.
4. Able to work under own initiative and with a high degree of autonomy.
5. Ability to liaise with production team to achieve customers’ demands.
6. CMM and Faro arm experience essential.
7. Experience in Aberlink and Tutor software an advantage.
8. Experience of IFS (ERP) or similar essential.
9. Non-conformance reports/actioning.
10. Use manual measuring equipment.
11. Working to ISO9001:2015.
12. Computer literate, understanding of MRP Systems.
13. Understanding of FMEA and PFMEA where required.
14. Understanding of Gauge R & R.
15. Understanding of SABRe standard an advantage.
