About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Health/Safety and Facilities Officer to join our team in Minworth/Birmingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines in the workplace, promoting a safe working environment by advising on safety measures, conducting risk assessments, and enforcing preventative measures. You will also support with the facilities management of the site, controlling contractors and arranging permits to work.
How you will contribute
* Development and maintenance of the company health and safety management systems and procedures.
* Responsible for the coordination of risk assessment activities including record keeping.
* Accident investigation activities including record keeping.
* Analysis of risk assessment, near miss, and accident data to present to the senior management team.
* Chairing health and safety representatives meetings, presenting data, recording actions, and maintaining progress on the actions.
* Assessment of training activities - company health and safety procedures.
* Working with the operational teams to improve the working environment, reducing impacts to employees from operational activities.
* Conducting internal audits, workplace inspections, and health & safety tours to the prescribed frequency.
* Design and develop written health and safety procedures.
* Responsible for all liaison of Environmental Policy Issues/Processes.
* Facilities management of the site, controlling contractors, arranging permits to work, and identifying/responding effectively to situations requiring external contractor assistance.
* Maintaining and improving the RPN of the risk register.
* Investigating and reporting accidents in a timely manner.
* Maintaining the internal audit program so that there are no overdue audits.
What you will bring
* NEBOSH General certificate as minimum.
* Experience of working in an automotive or logistics environment is advantageous.
* Ability to communicate and deal with a variety of people.
* Previous exposure of working in a health and safety capacity ideally within logistics/warehousing or manufacturing.
* Ability to work with frequent distractions.
* Good oral and written communication skills.
* Previous expertise in maintenance/engineering would be advantageous.
* Proficiency in computers and Microsoft Office products, namely Excel.
* Able to react quickly to the ever-changing business model.
* Able to suggest and implement risk-reducing initiatives.
* Able to root cause accidents using the 5C or 8D methodology.
* Analysis of data to identify trends.
* Desirable – OHSAS18001 experience.
