Why this job matters
The purpose of this role is to technically lead on all testing activities for Global/UK Fabric.
The successful candidate will provide engineering leadership, will drive technical solutions and learning culture transformation within the team.
Specifically, this role is accountable for:
* Overall technical accountability for all testing, test execution, test automaton and development of test frameworks used for the SDN/NAAS ecosystem (inc OSS, BSS, compute, underlay).
* Driving efficiency and scalability through the re-use of code, CI/CD pipelines and test cases.
* Typically leading a matrix (virtual) team of technical experts/contractors to deliver the test framework, automated test cases and provide technical thought leadership to a larger matrix team. The sphere of influence for the matrix team will be from a technical perspective.
* Acting as a technical ambassador for the company and providing expert technical consulting to customers at a platform and/or overall test solution level.
What you’ll be doing – your accountabilities
The purpose of the Senior Test Lead Engineer role is to lead on all testing activities Global/UK Fabric.
Specifically, this role is accountable for:
* Engaging as a Senior Test Lead for a hybrid (open-source, in-house) SDN/NAAS ecosystem (OSS, BSS, compute, underlay)
* Ensures, defines scope and engages in and improves (inc. hands on) the testing of the whole lifecycle of solution
* Establishes technical direction, defining industry leading test framework and responsible for test automation quality.
* Leads feature level technical planning of required testing, development of new test cases for integrating to pipelines.
* Ensures successful integration of a variety of automation and orchestration systems/endpoints
* Tracks progress, resolves dependencies, evaluates risks and communicates status to stakeholders
* Ensures optimal technical resources utilisation and provides input on optimisations
* Manages defects from each stage of the test lifecycle and with vendors.
The skills you’ll need to succeed
Mandatory
* Engineering leadership and excellence
* Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with effective verbal and written communication skills
* Extensive Hand-On Experience with CICD methodologies (Robot Framework, Selenium, Cucumber, Gitlab, BDD, Ansible), to build test pipelines etc.
* Ability to debug, optimize test cases, optimise test pipelines and to automate routine tasks.
* Ability to report test coverage, pass/failure and create dashboards.
* Ability to manage test defects through the full life-cycle.
* Demonstratable understanding of the different types of testing (Unit, Integration, Functional, End-2-End, User Acceptance etc.)
* Hand on expertise in automating testing of network devices (GNMiC)
* Hands-on experience of routing and switching protocols (ISIS, BGP, BGP-LS, MPLS-VPNs)
* Ability to translate test requirements into test environment topologies.
* Hands on experience with test tools such as Ixia IxNetwork and Spirent Test Center.
* Good understanding of industry trends relating to testing/test automation and tools.

* Experience with RESTful, gRPC, APIs and JSON/Protobuf
* Open-source software experience and engagement with open-source development practices (e.g. Netbox, Elastic, Kafka, gNMIc, Kong, fluentd, Prometheus)
* Some hands-on experience with Python Programming Language
* Experience with data modelling with Yang (with a vendor neutral landscape in mind)
Desirable
* Awareness of TM Forum API framework
* Experience with agile delivery
* Some experience with AWS beneficial
Typical Certifications/Accreditations Attained or working towards include:
* Member of a professional body e.g. Institution of Engineering and Technology
* ISTQB® Certified Tester Advanced Level Test Management (CTAL-TM)
* ITSQB Certified Tester Advanced Level – Test Automation Engineering (CTAL-TAE) or Equivalent
* AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Foundational
* Linux Foundation Certified IT Associate (LFCA)
* PCAT - Certified Associate Tester with Python
* Cisco CCNP Certification or Equivalent
* Robot Framework Certified Professional (RFCP)
