Modality LLP is a large-scale provider of NHS Outpatient Services, renowned for its innovative approach to delivering efficient pathways for patients requiring specialist care, leading to high quality patient outcomes. We are recruiting a team of Ultrasound Imaging Assistants who will assist in maintaining the patient environment to the highest standard and ensuring patient movement to and from the examination rooms is carried out safely, efficiently, and in a dignified manner.
Ultrasound Imaging Assistants will be responsible for chaperoning patients and preparing the clinical room/environment before/between examinations, ensuring that all equipment is clean and to enable an efficient patient flow.

Main duties of the job
You’ll support delivery of our ultrasound clinics across a range of community-based locations across Sandwell and Birmingham. You’ll be responsible for chaperoning patients, preparing/cleaning equipment between patients and completing audits, as required.
An essential requirement of this role is the ability and willingness to travel between sites.

Job Description
* To assist Radiologists and Advanced Sonographers in all aspects on Sonographic examinations
* To observe patients in waiting areas, reporting changes or concerns with the patient’s condition to a Sonographer / Radiographer or registered nurse immediately.
* To prepare jugs of water /fluids that form part of the patient preparation.
* Prepare and lay sterile trolleys for biopsies and drainages.
* To prepare examination rooms, assist in clinical areas and with moving patients.
* To be able to identify respiratory or cardiac arrest and take action immediately.
* To attend to patients’ needs whilst in waiting areas and after examinations, for example, making and giving drinks, and contacting relatives/carers.
* To actively participate in the departmental quality assurance programme. Participate in audit and data collection as required.
* To report to a Sonographer Radiographer immediately where a serious clinical incident may arise. The job holder must be aware of the implications of the Health and Safety at Work Act and ensure its guidelines are followed
* To maintain high standards of Infection control and cleaning of Ultrasound equipment/transducers after each examination
* Ensuring that accurate records are kept on the computer system, entering patients, and confirming patients in the ultrasound and other areas of the department under the guidance of the Sonographer or Radiologist.
* To assist at reception desks, entering patients’ details onto the computer system, and accurately checking and recording patient details, with adherence to the organizational Information Governance Policy.
* On occasion assisting in office duties as required - taking telephone messages in a polite and helpful manner, filing, and general clerical duties.
* To ensure that patients’ non-clinical needs are met, that preparation for examination is carried out correctly, and that appropriate follow-up or aftercare is available. To refer to a radiographer where there is doubt.
* Be aware of radiation protection issues, and act under the guidance of the radiographer to ensure personal and patient protection is maintained. To be aware of IR(ME)R 2017 legislation, and to be responsible under the guidance of the Radiographer/Sonographer/Advanced Practitioner /Radiologist for the correct identification of patients for Imaging examinations.
