We’re seeking a highly skilled and proactive full-time Senior Payroll Officer to join our team and lead the end-to-end payroll function for up to 500 staff. This is more than a processing role — it’s a leadership opportunity for someone who thrives on accuracy, innovation, and service excellence.
As the Senior Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for managing the full payroll cycle with the support of a collaborative Finance team. Your deep understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, and awards will ensure compliance and consistency across all processes. In addition to running payroll operations, you’ll play a key role in improving systems, enhancing internal procedures, and providing expert support to staff. You’ll also coach and guide other team members, driving best practices and continuous improvement.
You’ll be the go-to expert, leveraging your in-depth understanding of payroll legislation, awards, and systems to ensure our team members are paid accurately, on time, and in line with policy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee and manage end-to-end payroll processing for approximately 500 employees.
2. Provide all payroll services according to the relevant awards, agreements and legislative conditions within the Department and GGS culture and values.
3. Provide exceptional customer service and advice and respond to and resolve complex enquiries and issues to ensure the provision of accurate information, and the timely and effective resolution of issues and requests for support.
4. Deliver timely, accurate pay runs and employee entitlements.
5. Identify and implement improvements to streamline payroll operations.
6. Manage payroll-related projects and contribute to broader finance initiatives.
About You
1. Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
2. Advanced Diploma of Payroll Management (or equivalent).
3. Member or Affiliate of Australian Payroll Association (or equivalent).
4. Hold current Working with Children Check.
5. Hold a current police clearance, dated within the last 6 months.
6. Proof of Right to Work in Australia.
7. Respect the values, traditions and Anglican ethos of the School.
