We also perform scheduled calibration of Quality Critical instrumentation to maintain audit compliance as well as assisting with breakdowns and plant fault rectification. We are currently seeking a Multiskilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at a high-volume manufacturing plant in Northumberland. Role Overview The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for ensuring site compliance by conducting scheduled maintenance, calibration, and safety testing of critical instrumentation and machinery safety devices. The successful candidate will work within a structured team environment, adhering to strict Health & Safety policies and industry standards. The ability to fault find and a good understanding of electrical drawings and P&ID’s. Key Responsibilities Process Safety Compliance (IEC 61508, IEC 61511) Perform scheduled Process Safety Testing on Safety Instrumented Systems, fault-finding as and when required. Conduct Critical A & B Instrumentation calibrations and tests (Flow, Pressure, Temperature, Level). Execute Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) Testing as per ASI 527. Inspect Pressure Vacuum Relief Valves (PVRV) in accordance with ASI 527. Carry out Pressure Regulator (PR) Inspections following ASI 527 standards Machinery Safety Compliance (ISO 13849 - Safety of Machinery) Perform regular testing and maintenance of machinery safety devices, including: Safety doors, guards, and hatches. Emergency stop systems (E-Stops). Limit switches and earthing systems. Light barriers and other critical machine safety mechanisms. Qualifications & Experience To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements: HNC in an Engineering discipline (or equivalent qualification). Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship (or equivalent hands-on experience in a maintenance role). Strong understanding of instrumentation calibration and testing and fault finding skills. Knowledge of UK Health & Safety regulations and a commitment to promoting a safe working environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Desirable Skills & Certifications (Preferred but not essential) Experience working within a Process or Manufacturing environment. Knowledge of IEC 61508, IEC 61511, and ISO 13849 standards. Additional certifications such as COMPEX (for hazardous areas), BS 7671 (Wiring Regulations), or relevant instrumentation training.
