We have exciting opportunities for ICU Clinical Fellows to join our Medical team and work within our Intensive Care Unit located at The London Clinic’s main hospital site at the top of Harley Street in Central London. We are offering a highly competitive salary up to £82,800 per annum with additional funding and support for bench/educational/training fees. The clinical commitment for a full time role is a resident 44 hour / week role 7 x25-hour shifts per month, it is possible to undertake less than this with renumeration decreased pro rata. This is a highly attractive post and successful applicants in the past have used their available additional time to engage in academic or teaching opportunities. It would be particularly suitable for experienced doctors who are at the end of their training position and are seeking time out of program. It would equally be attractive for individuals who want to pursue a period of clinical medicine in London. Duties & Responsibilities • As part of the multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for the assessment, evaluation and implementation of care provided to patients within the ICU. • You will work with colleagues in Recovery, Anaesthesia, radiology and endoscopy to ensure appropriate multi-disciplinary management and support of patients who may need greater than L0 care and/or who need emergent support. • Provide 24 hour on-site resident airway support for the intensive care unit and other hospital areas in an emergent scenario. • Provide emergency care for deteriorating patients in ward or other clinical areas, working collaboratively with resident RMOs / Fellows and the ITU Outreach services. • Work closely with our Outreach services, which is staffed by specialist nurses providing a 24/7 service. • Review and document plans for all patients on the critical care units and ensure consultants are informed in changes in patient’s condition and to agree and action any new treatment. • A member of the Resuscitation team within the main Hospital buildings (20 Devonshire Place and Duchess of Devonshire Wing). • Contribute to M&M, Risk and Quality Meetings • Attendance at hospital safety huddles (10.30am & 10.30pm) Skills & Experience • GMC registration with MBBS or equivalent. • ALS / PILS (Training will be given on site). • ITU experience with competency in intubation and emergency airway management, tracheostomy and management of complications, bronchoscopy and complex airway management. • Competency in mechanical ventilation techniques, continuous renal replacement therapies, arterial and venous line insertion, chest drains insertion and the use of ultrasound to facilitate said. • You will be enthusiastic, well organised with a positive attitude towards flexibility and change. • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with an understanding of Clinical Governance.
